Hoar Construction Carpenter Helper in Birmingham, Alabama

The Carpenter Helper is responsible to assist Carpenters in building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures and other items by using, supplying or holding materials and/or tools needed to complete project tasks. Travel to different job sites may be required for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean work areas, machines, tools or equipment, to maintain a clean and safe job site.

  • Select tools, equipment, or materials from storage and transport items to task or project site, return equipment to storage once finished.

  • Assist in constructing, erecting, installing, or repairing structures such as but not limited to door and wall frames; hardware, doors, casework and trim; specialty hardware such as handrails, laminates and door handles.

  • Use power and hand tools as required by the Carpenter or Foreman such as saw, nail guns, sanders or other as necessary.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

  • At least 6 months of experience working as a Carpenter Helper on commercial or industrial construction projects.

  • Must have basic carpentry hand tools and ability to use such as tape, speed square, hammer, utility knife, chalk box and tool belt.

  • Reading, written and verbal communication skills in English, verbal communication in Spanish considered an asset but not required.

  • Valid Driver's License

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
