ManpowerGroup US Regional Director in Binghamton, New York

Direct Hire US Regional Director 100k - 150k

A worldwide leading supplier of stainless steel solder mask blanks and other high value products to the electronics industry. With its head office in the UK, wholly owned sites in Singapore and the USA, together with distributors in Asia, we are strategically placed to offer a second to none global service.

The US region represents around 50% of total sales. We are now seeking to recruit a Regional Director for our US site. Based in Binghamton, New York State, our US operations supply customers throughout the US, Canada and Mexico.

We have invested heavily in unique manufacturing techniques and are actively developing radical new machining methods. Significant capabilities have already been perfected in the micro profiling of thin metal foils mainly for use in the production of printed circuit boards. Our company has also developed and built a specialist machine for laser processing thin foils from coil to parts. It is in these areas that we believe future opportunities lie.

In addition to the above investments we have recently won a large subcontract assembly process contract with our core business area in the UK and are looking to replicate this in the US. This move up the supply chain and subcontract assembly or manufacturing capability is another area that we believe provides growth opportunity.

The role is total leadership and managerial responsibility for all our activities in the Americas. The regional director will attend monthly board meetings (10 per year) where at least 2 will be in person.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for regional P&L balance sheet

  • Responsible for developing and agreeing annual budget/operating targets with the CEO

  • Focus on identifying and capitalizing on new opportunities for our developing manufacturing and machining capabilities

  • Work with both local and UK based sales and operations in the implementation of agreed new products and projects

  • Contribute to global strategic plans, make decisions, and ensure that the global business fully leverages all locally identified opportunities

  • A leadership rather than a management position

  • Ensure that the regional site operates within regional legal and HS&E requirements and the global policies

Role and Responsibilities

  • Demonstration of financial literacy

  • Ability to show capability of market analysis to support a strategic aim

  • Demonstrate New Business Development success in developing strategies and winning new business

  • Engineering, manufacturing operational background of some form

  • Knowledge of Computer Aided Design techniques and, if possible, exposure to CNC machining

  • Understanding of fiber lasers

  • Ability to identify and exploit new opportunities for manufacturing capabilities

Attributes

This person will likely have a first engineering technical degree and probably a business master's degree or equivalent.

  • Thoughtful, diplomatic, sure footed strategic thinker but also a tactical deliverer

  • Able to work in a small business environment but hold their own in a large corporate world

  • Ability to demonstrate organizational leadership skills in a developing team environment

  • Ability to identify skills in individuals and work with them to develop those skills to maximize their immediate contribution and long-term potential
