Guthrie Linen Technician - Laundry - Full Time in Binghamton, New York

Summary:

Provide exceptional service to internal customers.

Must have demonstrated ability to read and communicate in English documents such as product labels, Safety Data Sheets, and linen order/inventory papers. Must demonstrate accuracy with counting and basic math.

Experience: No Experience in Linen necessary, but customer service experience recommended.

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Essential Functions:

  • Exhibit guiding behaviors that reflect Guthrie’s values and supports the organizational mission and vision.

  • Assists with inventories, stocking and replenishment of supply rooms and linen exchange carts. May be required to lift objects up to 50 bls in weight.

  • Must be able to push/pull linen carts weighing up to 200 lbs.

  • Matches orders with Linen received from supplier.

  • Reports maintenance issues to management. Reports regulatory or safety issues to management.

  • Remans compliant with all annual training requirements and participates in regular training to ensure a continued understanding of departmental policies and procedures.

  • Gathers linen based on par levels and delivers to all physician offices, clinics, etc. Picks up soiled linen.

  • Participates in team meetings, working groups and committees as needed to assist in developing processes within the department.

  • Receives daily delivery of clean linens from the contract linen service and verifies that the amount indicated is accurate.

  • Inventory daily each exchange cart brought down from the user area and resupply echo cart with required amounts as determined by daily par levels.

  • Makes sure there is an propriate par level of scrubs in the system to fill scrub machines 2X per day. Alerts coordinator when addition items need to be purchased to maintain adequate levels.

  • Fills EMS machine daily.

  • Fills ED linen machines 2X daily, as well as fills blanket warmers to maintain consistent par levels.

Other Duties:

  • It is understood that this description is not intended to be all inclusive and that other duties may be assigned as necessary in the performance of this position.

  • Daily contact with staff

Physical Demands: Considerable walking, standing, bending, reaching, p ushing, pulling and lifting.

Mental Demands:

Routine duties requiring judgement in priorities and decisions under defined problems. Routine, repetitive duties with minor variation. Must be able to make decisions based on established policies, procedures, or guidelines.

Job Hazards: Potential for exposure to infectious material. Handling of contaminated linens. Potential for musculoskeletal injuries if proper lifting and carrying is not applied.

Pay Rate ranges from $16.00 - $22.37 per hour.
