* *WARDEN MONTANA WOMEN'S PRISON BILLINGS, MT * *MISSION -//Montana Department of Corrections is creating a safer Montana through Accountability, Rehabilitation and Empowerment. JOB OVERVIEW- This position provides operational business management, direction, and resource allocation for administration at an organization. Perform operational management functions for the organization. This is a management position that oversees operations, implements policies and is responsible for overall safety at Montana Women's Prison. * Integrates public safety, administration goals, public perception, and community, financial, and legal concerns to manage all aspects of the facility assigned, as well as contracted services and facilities. Ultimately responsible for multiple unique or diverse aspects of the facility and contracts, including the following: a wide range of inmate security levels, a racially diverse and aging population, juveniles (in the case of Pine Hills Correctional Facility), and/or juveniles tried as adults, diverse treatment and rehabilitation needs, medical and ADA needs, daily needs, and facility operations and maintenance. Weighs and balances risk of management plans for these unique and diverse aspects to maintain security at all levels of the facility and provide for public safety while also rehabilitating offenders and ensuring they receive the best possible treatment. * Designs and manages strategic implementation plans for new initiatives. * Manages numerous legal cases for the Department of Corrections and the assigned facility. * May fulfill rare, but highly scrutinized statutory obligations, including administering executions performed in the state. * Serves as expert on offenders and the prison system. Ensures safety and security of the public and responds to public and media concerns regarding public safety. Functions as the highest-level contact for legislative inquiries regarding the prison system and develops and makes correctional best practice recommendations. * Demonstrates exceptional ability to coordinate competing high-level variables and develop and influence relationships. Work demands daily interaction with potentially violent inmates. Available 24 hours a day for emergency response. * Integrates structured treatment environments, education opportunities and rehabilitative programming with facility operations and programs to provide offenders (which may include adults and/or youth) the treatment, education, vocational training, and care they need while ensuring the best possible security and public relations outcomes for the Department of Corrections. The hourly rate of this position will increase by $1.50 per hour or 4% whichever is greater starting July 1, 2024, in accordance with HB13. The warden of the Montana state prison and the warden of the women's prison must be persons trained through education and experience in directing a training, rehabilitation, or custodial program in a penal institution. Five or more years of combined experience and education which provides and extensive knowledge of corrections, management, and budgeting best practices and thorough knowledge of the laws and regulations governing corrections required.
