The main purpose and function of the Quality Assurance Specialist is to support the Quality Management System in the Wyo-Ben Pet production environment.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Perform product specific testing on daily production samples.

  • Audits and supports the Quality Control activities during manufacturing (timely completion of QC inspection sheets/shop travelers, verifies liquid/dry additive rates, verifies proper bag weights, monitors line purge during changeover, etc.).

  • Reviews and approves quality control documentation.

  • Generates certificates of analyses and/or customer specific test reports.

  • Maintains a product retained sample program.

  • Builds and ships sample requests.

  • Work with departments to ensure Internal, Customer, and Vendor NCRs are documented and resolved. Documentation may include internal and/or external customer portal sites.

  • Monitors and ensures NCR dispositioned material is properly labeled and segregated.

  • Monitors and reviews corrective and preventive actions for effectiveness and completion.

  • Ensures consumables are received correctly and meet QA/QC requirements. Reports weekly consumables inventory to management.

  • Consults with management to determine appropriate recommendations and remedies for questionable products.

  • Maintains all lab test equipment to calibration requirements.

  • Supports production meetings with QA/QC data summaries.

  • Facilitates new product release process prior to/during production.

  • Supports internal audit functions including responsible sourcing audit functions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education and training:

  • Associate of Science degree preferred or equivalent work experience.

  • Mathematics emphasis preferred.

Experience:

  • One (1) to Two (2) years of quality control experience in a production/manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Experience working in an ISO environment a plus.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office such as Excel, Word and Outlook or other related software as needed to complete reports.

  • Familiarity with quality standards and processes.

  • Thorough understanding of the product and/or process being inspected.

  • Communication skills to convey information in reports, meetings, and status reports.

  • Knowledge of the product to drive accurate quality control.

  • Problem solving skills: ability to identify source of problem; execute solution and document the issue; escalate to management.

  • Approach all interactions and work situations in a positive and respectful manner.

Physical and Safety Requirements:
