NORTHWESTERN ENERGY Electric Business Development Manager in BILLINGS, Montana

Location Negotiable in Montana (Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Great Falls, Helena or Missoula) or South Dakota Service Territories

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business, or, related electrical experience
  • Proven experience in utility business development
  • Strong understanding of the industry and market trends
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated customer interaction skills
  • Ability to demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
  • Strong computer, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to travel to jobsites, off-site meetings, and trainings (estimated at 15% travel per year) including overnight stays when necessary
  • Ability to pass a drug test and a background check
  • Experience with electric or gas distribution or transmission engineering, modeling and construction preferred
  • Experience with utility software such as WinFlow, SAP, PLS-CADD, GIS systems and survey techniques desired
  • Knowledge of International NESC, NEC, Fuel Gas Code and the DOT. Part 191 and 192 is preferred

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Identify and contact potential clients establishing relationships with key decision makers
  • Conduct market research to stay up to date with key industry trends, customer needs and competitors
  • Negotiate contracts and closing deals
  • Develop and present business case
  • Manage Business Development resources
  • Use sound analytical skills to model, analyze, propose solutions for growth and recommend long range strategies for customer/load growth
  • Maintain compliance with all related standards including industry and regulatory
  • Prepare presentations and present to management and/or customers
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Operations, Finance, Legal, Risk and others depending on the project
  • Manage initial engineering for growth, expansion and extensions projects
  • Oversee design of electric and/or natural gas facilities, meeting NorthWestern Energy/industry standards
  • Oversee computer related functions such as engineering analysis, drawing, spreadsheets, and database compilations
  • Data base management, conducting computer studies to evaluate the distribution system's security and adequacy, analyzing study results, making recommendations, preparing reports and attending internal and regional meetings as needed
  • Adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics
  • Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives

Full-time position.

$108,400 to $176,400 per year, depending on experience. Benefits include: 401K with company match up to 4% and non-elective contribution up to 7%; healthcare and wellbeing programs, including dental and vision; Health Savings Account (HSA); healthcare and dependent care flexible spending account (FSA); Employee Assistance Programs; Life Insurance; paid time off starting on your first day, plus 11 paid holidays.
