Corewell Health Physician - Hospitalist - Regional Float - Southwest MI in Big Rapids, Michigan

Corewell Health West is seeking a full time Hospitalist to join their team as a Regional Float Physician for our community hospitals providing exceptional care for the hospitalized individuals and families.

This physician will work 7 on 7 off schedule for a total of 175 shifts per year. All day shifts; no nights! Float position can be scheduled at any of our community hospitals including Ludington Hospital, Gerber Hospital, Big Rapids Hospital, Greenville Hospital, Zeeland Hospital, or Pennock Hospital. Schedule is set 6 months in advance and the Float Physician will spend no less than a full week at any one location to provide continuity patient care. Some procedures and vent management is required; tele-ICU physician available for consults through state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Assesses and monitors the medical needs of patients/significant others.

  • Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensures coverage of case load at all times.

  • Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.

  • Provides oversight of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners and others providing delegated services to patients.

  • Documents in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.

  • Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Acts as a patient/family advocate.

Qualifications

  • License – Michigan MD/DO

  • BE/BC Internal Medicine Residency or Family Medicine Residency (with demonstrated strong inpatient experience)

  • Certification - Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Certification - Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Corewell Heath Big Rapids Hospital

Corewell Health Big Rapids Hospital is a 49-bed acute care hospital located in Mecosta County. Big Rapids Hospital maintains a level IV trauma designation and is a TJC Comprehensive Stroke Center. Big Rapids Hospital offers a full range of services, including inpatient medical, surgical, obstetrical, and critical care units. Outpatient services include a full-service laboratory; a full complement of medical imaging diagnostic services, including CT and MRI, 3D mammography, bone density testing, and ultrasound; comprehensive cardiopulmonary services; rehabilitation services, including cardiac, and pulmonary rehab; along with an array of outpatient surgical procedures.

In addition, Big Rapids Hospital has a 24-hour emergency department with all-private treatment rooms. Medical staff include general surgery, orthopedic surgery, emergency medicine, urology, family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics & gynecology.

Corewell Health Gerber Hospital:

Corewell Health Gerber Hospital is a 25-bed Critical Access hospital located in rural Newaygo County, which has a significant Amish population and seasonal migrant farm workers. Gerber Hospital offers inpatient medical, surgical, obstetrical and critical care units. Our Family Birthing Center is highly rated and offers midwife services and individual birth plans. Outpatient services include a full-service laboratory; cancer services; a full complement of medical imaging diagnostic services, including CT, MRI and 3D mammography; cardiopulmonary services; comprehensive rehabilitation services, including cardiac, pulmonary and cancer rehab; occupational therapy and an array of outpatient surgical procedures. Tamarac Health and Wellness Center offers a full-service workout facility, onsite childcare, pool, community class offerings and a full-service spa with massage, facials and more. Gerber Hospital offers a 24-hour emergency department for treatment of minor illness and injuries with minimal wait times. Specialties on our medical staff include general and vascular surgery, orthopedic surgery, pediatrics, ENT, oncology, emergency medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, anesthesiology, radiology, pathology, ophthalmology, obstetrics & gynecology and midwifery. Visiting specialists include cardiology, ENT, Nephrology, and Sleep Medicine. In addition, Ludington Hospital has a 24-hour emergency department with all-private treatment rooms, plus a "FastER track" service for the treatment of minor illness and injuries with minimal wait times.
