Job Description

Position Title: Warehouse Field Tech I (Chemical & Fertilizer Complex)

Position Purpose:

This position performs material handling duties in the Warehouse area of the Planning section. This position issues/returns tools and parts, and maintains computerized inventory records.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain warehouse working and storage areas to ensure a clean and safe working environment.

  • Maintain familiarity with the work management system, staging operations, and delivery systems.

  • Operate the overhead crane and various forklifts to issue/return material including some oversized items and chemicals.

  • Issue materials to users based on an on-line issue request through Asset Suite. Maintain manual issue requests for materials issued during computer downtime.

  • Knowledgeable in the inspection and repair of come along winches and chain fall hoists.

  • Properly issue tools and maintain inventory in the tool room.

  • Properly ship and receive torquing equipment for certifications and repair.

  • Return materials from users through Asset Suite or Tracking Sheets.

  • Use Asset Suites Inventory module to determine storage locations, quantities available, and proper description of items.

  • Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of commodities, instrumentation and maintenance materials, i.e., fittings, pipe, fasteners, pumps, steel, instrument parts, etc.

  • Work with affected department personnel to resolve day-to-day problems and activities.

  • Assist with inventory control and cycle counting.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 2 years of full-time related experience maintaining controlled inventory in an industrial application.

  • Advanced knowledge of materials, material handling techniques, and inventory systems.

  • Able to read, write, perform basic arithmetic, and follow instructions.

  • Proficient with personal computers, Microsoft Word and Outlook.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • A valid driver’s license.

  • Resume required.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, use of keyboard/computer and use of foot controls; and occasional climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, lifting or carrying up to 75 pounds, pushing and pulling up to 100 pounds and use of tools. Requires finger dexterity, ability to perform close work, good color vision and hearing and the ability to speak. Requires the ability to analyze data and reports, implement recommendations, conduct research, present information to others, and work under pressure to meet delivery deadlines. The incumbent occasionally works around dirt, dust, chemicals, extreme heat, cold, vibration, noise, poor ventilation and may work at heights up to 25 feet. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. The position frequently operates pickups, forklifts, and trucks to pick up or make deliveries on and off plant site to issue and return material to and from warehouse locations. This position may be assigned a rotation between the main warehouse, tool room and other outlying warehousing areas. Incumbent will be expected to become trained and certified for chain hoist and winch inspection and repair.

Wage: $39.18 per hour
