Overview St. Joseph Hospital, located in Bethpage NY, is a not-for-profit full service, 203-bed, community hospital that plays a paramount role in its communities. The Emergency Department cares for over 34,000 patients a year. The hospital has achieved disease specific certification for its Stroke Program which is designated by NYS as a Gold Plus Center. Other vital services include the St. Francis Imaging Center at St. Joseph Hospital, a state-of-the-art cardiac CT scanner, MRI, Vascular Laboratory, Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine, Center for Sleep Medicine, Center for Swallowing, Speech & Voice, and comprehensive in-patient medical, critical care and surgical services. St. Joseph Hospital also takes great pride in its extensive community outreach programs i.e. diabetes education, support groups, pet therapy, health fairs, teddy bear clinics and lecture series are only a few. Job Details Nocturnist General Statement of Duties: Evaluate all patients referred by the Emergency Department for admission to inpatient or observation on a nursing unit including their suitability for admission/observation status Complete history and physical examination including all elements required by Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations. H&P to be completed no later than the end of the work shift Complete medication reconciliation, reconciliation of outside problem lists, and admitting orders for all patients admitted to inpatient/observation status including appropriate prophylaxis for deep venous thrombosis Assure that all necessary consultants have been contacted for each admission Perform a warm handoff and sign-out to the attending physician by the end of the shift Participate in all Patient Experience and Patient Safety programs at the hospital Nocturnist Eligibility Requirements: Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Those that are board eligible must complete the certification process within 5 years of eligibility Unrestricted New York State License. DEA license. Must meet all St. Joseph Hospital Medical Staff credentialing requirements. Maintain ACLS & BLS Salary Range USD $165.00 - USD $165.00 /Hr.
