JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Project Manager is a key player in Marriott’s Disaster Recovery Program, responsible for overseeing project delivery and alignment with business objectives. This role involves planning, directing, and coordinating activities related to enterprise-level IT infrastructure technology and business programs. Responsible for developing prioritization processes, communications, and team level impediments for Disaster Recovery projects and programs. Manages risks and issues and drives continuous improvement throughout project lifecycles. The Senior Project Manager will also facilitate PI planning sessions, maintain the Jira board, and manage tasks associated with these responsibilities, ensuring adherence to Agile principles.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent relevant experience / certifications

  • 7+ years of IT project management experience including:

  • 4+ years of Agile experience using Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe methodologies

  • 4+ years managing enterprise level infrastructure projects

  • 2+ years working with tools such as Atlassian (JIRA/Confluence)

  • 3+ years IT leadership experience, including budget management

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 suite and applications

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with Disaster Recovery projects

  • PMP, SAFe, Agile and ITIL v4 Certifications

  • Broad technical acumen across multiple technical disciplines (Server, Middleware, Networks etc.)

  • Strong business acumen across multiple business disciplines (Sales and Marketing, Finance, etc.)

  • Thorough knowledge of current disaster recovery planning techniques and technologies

  • Ability to work across organizational boundaries and lead change

  • Familiarity with NIST / other Standards e.g., NIST SP 800-34, NIST SP 800-53, ISO 22301

  • High level of interpersonal skills

  • Skilled in conceptualizing creative solutions, documenting them, and presenting/selling them to senior management.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Project Leadership

  • Directs the work of project team, including oversight/coordination with other project managers

  • Helps identify and deploy resources required for projects.

  • Functions as escalation to project teams to resolve issue

  • Reports project status to Senior/Executive Leadership in weekly meetings

  • Develops cost plans and project estimates for Demands in pipeline

  • Partners with leadership and stakeholders across Global Technology and the business to ensure delivery of projects

  • Assists with facilitating assignment of projects to project managers

Managing Projects

  • Plans projects, including requirements, cost, schedule, and deliverables to meet business need.

  • Identifies project milestones and required tasks.

  • Manages project risk, issues, and budget.

  • Tracks project performance.

  • Informs the appropriate stakeholders of project status and issues

  • Interfaces with vendor(s) for programs under direct control

  • Follow-up on any open Global Information Security (GIS) related issues.

  • Identify and track GIS issues coming due in next 4-6 weeks.

  • Remove any blockers for the teams working these issues. Ensure that these issues are remediated before due dates.

  • File extensions as and when exceptionally needed.
