ProSphere Tek Avaya Server Administrator/Information Assurance Engineer in Bethesda, Maryland

Overview

Planned Systems International, LLC (PSI) is in search of a qualified Server Administrator/Information Assurance engineer to assist with the Operations and Maintenance ("O&M") services for mission-critical Voice Systems across multiple remote sites within the DC Metropolitan Area.

The Voice Systems encompass an Avaya Aura Communications Manager ("Avaya CM") solution that spans multiple buildings. This solution is linked to the Public Switched Telephone Network ("PSTN") through 34 Primary Rate Interfaces (PRI). The on-site Avaya CM Voice System also plays a pivotal role, facilitating nationwide appointment scheduling and status update communications. Another integral component is the Forum-III conference bridge system, housed to support seamless conference calls.

Currently operating on Avaya CM 7.x, the Voice Systems are slated for an upgrade to the latest approved version. The selected candidate will be responsible for the ongoing support of the existing Voice Systems while simultaneously supporting technical

refresh tasks such as installation, testing, fortification, security implementation, migration to new platforms or components, and the overall maintenance of the complete Voice Systems to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with RMF (Risk Management Framework) Authority to Operate (ATO) standards.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

The Server Administrator/Information Assurance Engineer will be the primary individual responsible for maintaining the security posture of the Unified Communication (UC) systems.

  • Plan, implement, manage, and maintain Voice solutions in support of a centralized telecommunications infrastructure that serves a substantial medical center encompassing diverse departments, clinics, and tenant organizations, adapting to a dynamic work-from-home setup, which includes:

  • Components like Avaya CM, AES, CMS, ACR, voice mail, Avaya/Verint WFO call recording, IVR, Forum, Verasmart, speech analytics, and CTI.

  • Fundamentally Red Hat and Windows operating systems as the underlying infrastructure.

  • Utilize tools, diagnostic utilities, and benchmarking techniques.

  • Possess comprehension of VMware virtualization and communication protocols of Red Hat and Windows Server, along with endorsed hardware configurations.

  • Utilize statistical and analytical instruments for monitoring and assessing system performance.

  • Independently diagnose issues within UC-related servers and the supporting virtualized environment that encompasses network regions and VLANs, to discern the underlying causes, segregate problems, and resolve potential irregularities or service interruptions.

  • Collaborate with the CM Lead Engineer to fulfill Tier I and II triage responsibilities, including recovery and restoration procedures in case of component breakdowns or system downtime.

  • Engage with Tier III Technical Assistance Center (TAC) engineers within the Contractor's team, and Tier IV engineers within the manufacturer's TAC, to resolve intricate matters when needed.

  • Plan, design, and implement new servers, virtualization platforms, and the associated hardware.

  • Evaluate the repercussions on operations stemming from changes in system architecture and configurations.

  • Proficiency in executing change management, involving test protocols, projected outcomes, and fallback plans to address server/system malfunctions.

  • Put forth suggestions for the endorsement of servers and virtualization installations.

  • Construct status updates and deliverables, including presentations about systems and servers, aimed at stakeholders and peers.

  • Examine system logs proactively to identify potential issues.

  • Provide support for downtime requirements beyond regular hours and promptly address problems concerning UC-related servers and the underlying virtualization platform.

  • Collaborate with cybersecurity engineers to ensure adherence to DoD RMF and Continuous Diagnostics & Monitoring (CDM) requisites for all Voice System assets.

  • Implement and manage security hotfixes, patches, and updates.

  • Monitor the environment daily and report on its uptime in accordance with SLAs.

  • Curate and sustain documentation for UC-related servers and virtualization platform systems, encompassing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), system topology diagrams, Ports, Protocols, & Services (PPS) specifications, data flow diagrams, and administrative access credentials.

Minimum Requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (with a minimum of 7 years).

  • 7-year track record in system administration for Voice solutions, complemented by demonstrated expertise in TCP/IP networking, LAN routing and switching, server virtualization (preferably VMware), and proficiency with operating systems like Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows Server.

  • 7 years of dedicated involvement in datacenter management, network infrastructure, or enterprise operations center functions.

  • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on engagement in configuring and fine-tuning Avaya Telecommunication Equipment.

  • Prerequisite Avaya CM (Communication Manager) Experience.

  • Experience with Aura Applications is a requirement.

  • Possession of AIPS (Avaya Implementation Professional Specialist), ASPS (Avaya Support Professional Specialist), and ACSS (Avaya Certified Support Specialist) certifications is obligatory.

  • Additional ACSE (Avaya Certified Solution Expert) and ACIS (Avaya Certified Implementation Specialist) certifications are advantageous.

  • Competence in Call Center Applications.

  • Minimum certification for DoD 8570 / DoDI 8140 IAT-1 role is required (i.e. A+ CE, CCNA-Security, CND, Network+ CE, or SSCP).
