Philips Product Sourcing Engineer Mechanical in Best, Netherlands

In the role of Product Sourcing Engineer, you are a key member of dynamic and challenging projects. Each step in the process requires full ownership and commitment of the Procurement representative within a cross functional project team. You are the single point of contact between the project, the procurement community and (potential) suppliers, ensuring early involvement of the supplier(s), supplier allocation, supplier contracting and supplier management until successful project finalization.

Your role:

  • Cooperate and actively support the strategic procurement manager to develop the supply base strategy for the assigned building block.

  • Lead (or be part of) an assigned building block to properly execute the supply base strategy from strategy design to execution, including life cycle management.

  • Initiate and maintain active stakeholder management for the assigned building block, ensuring full alignment of the strategy with cross functional departments.

  • Represent procurement within New Product Innovation projects and towards suppliers ensuring early supplier involvement.

  • Provide input for make or buy analysis.

  • Initiate and drive cost management by providing should-cost calculations for the main building blocks in close cooperation with our Cost Masters, identifying opportunities through target costing and managing cost drivers and data sources to improve the design decision-making process.

  • Drive concept savings in New Product Innovations and Life Cycle Management in close cooperation with Commodity Management, R&D, Production, Marketing, Supplier Quality and Customer Service.

  • Drive the Request for Quotation process.

  • Drive the Supplier Allocation Process together with the Commodity Teams, including project related contract negotiations.

  • Supplier management throughout the project.

  • Execute and support phase in – phase out (PIPO) planning related to new product introduction.

  • Support the in/outsourcing process (e.g. knowledge transfer, supplier ramp up).

  • Support the Supplier Quality manager in new supplier component release process, including compliance and sustainability aspects.

  • Provide input to the Commodity Teams regarding the supply base characteristics based on business requirements.

  • Drive procurement activities in Life Cycle Management of existing products and systems.

You are a part of

The Product Sourcing Engineer team for the Business Unit IGT-Systems within Philips Healthcare. This Business Unit is responsible for marketing, sales, development, manufacturing, and maintenance of X-Ray systems for, amongst others, cardiac and vascular medical diagnosis and interventions. Customers are interventional specialists in the cardiology and radiology domain, operating in a wide variety of hospitals across the globe.

You're the right fit if you have the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering .

  • Preferably>5 years of experience in mechanical manufacturing industry , with knowledge of technologies like sheet metal, machining and aluminum casting .

  • Experience or interest in an international procurement environment .

  • Communicate on strategic and executional level with system architects, senior designers, project managers to drive the longer-term supply base strategy.

  • Easily connects to the managerial levels of suppliers to ensure proper execution of projects.

  • Embraces the challenging and exciting, sometimes stressful working environment of new product introductions.

  • Takes responsibility in allocating the best-in-class suppliers with the right balance in capabilities, quality, and costs.

  • Brings a positive contribution towards multi-disciplinary project teams. Is able to read and understand blueprints and other engineering documentation to challenge design and suppliers on cost and quality.

  • Excellent negotiation skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
