Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Technology Manager - Semiconductor Lithography Optics (m/f/d)

Purpose of the Position:

Develop deep understanding of the semiconductor lithography applications and roadmap, with a focus on optical elements and assemblies for deep-UV and Extreme-UV lithography systems.

Develop deep technical relationships with strategic customers and initiate collaborative efforts.

Provide relevant insights for internal Product Line Plans and Business Technology Strategy

Recommend initiation of new technical programs.

Deliverables:

  • Annual semiconductor lithography system understanding and roadmap, including:

  • Insights into lithography system optical designs.

  • Definition of critical product attributes for lenses and mirrors in lithography systems.

  • First-principle understanding of impact of optical aberrations and distortions on lithography system performance in semiconductor fabs.

  • Implications regarding glass material properties (thermal, mechanical, optical).

  • Deep and frequent technical engagement with a few strategic customers to discuss their roadmap and identify new opportunities.

  • Summary of key learning from selected technical conferences such as SPIE Adv. Patterning.

  • Initiation of new program or collaboration with customers or technical partners.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Engage with outside semiconductor lithography system experts through direct interactions in technical conferences and customer visits.

  • Conduct optical modeling studies on commercial software.

  • Author technical papers and promote Semiconductor Technologies & Solutions capabilities in technical conferences/journals.

  • Support commercial group with key account engagements.

  • Monitor lithography system design patent publications.

Performance Metrics:

  • Quality and impact of technical reports, whitepapers, and technical tutorials.

  • Depth and frequency of interactions with customers.

  • New findings directly impacting Product Line Plans.

  • New projects initiated.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 30% - Domestic and international

Required Education and Experience:

  • PhD or Master degree in Optical Engineering, Optical Physics or similar discipline

  • 10 years of experience in reflective and refractive optical design and ray tracing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Optical modeling expertise using commercial suites like Zemax or Code-V.

  • Fluent in English and German.

  • Ability to establish trust and cooperation with customers.

  • Strong technical acumen.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts.

  • Executive presence and presentation skills.
