Job Overview
TE Connectivity’s Field Application Engineering Teams work intimately with customers to recommend products and solutions for new and existing applications. They identify new applications, requirement modifications and enhancements to meet customer specifications and conduct on-site installation and service of product and are responsible for all technical aspects of the sales cycle for potential application of company products to meet customer needs, including identifying opportunities; determining solutions; creating demand; preparing detailed product specifications and technical marketing support; ensuring high quality and timely project execution and conducting follow-up technical support. They also approve operational quality of systems and equipment.
Job Responsibilities
Assist in the daily engineering and product management activities within TE Energy. Examples include, but not limited to:
Develop/design new electrical products from Project Definition to Production Release as required by Product Management team under guidance of the Engineering Supervisor.
Ensure designs meet requirements of IEC / AS/NZS Standards and/or the customer. Arrange Compliance Testing with external testing laboratories where required.
Design components suitable for Injection moulding or CNC machining using PTC/CREO 3D CAD software. Produce detailed CAD documentation (2D/3D) for manufacturing.
Perform in-house verification testing on prototypes. Produce detailed test reports.
Implement Engineering Changes to existing products to resolve quality issues.
Create CAD Documentation for cost saving projects on existing components. Approve samples from alternative vendors and review First Article Inspection Reports.
Release 2D Drawings to online portal using a Windchill/PDMLink approval process
Manage CAD data and revisions using Check-in / Checkout function in Windchill/PDMLink
Participate in tender preparation meetings and assist Product Manager (PM) / Product Specialist (PS) with supporting technical material for the purpose of tender submission, Eg. drawings, data sheets, test reports, quality certificates, etc.
Develop sales supporting materials including installation instructions, brochures, catalogues, data sheets, case studies, references, etc
Assist PM/PS in part setups, bill of materials checks and coordinate documents management
Support PM/PS interaction with Procurement/Buyer in checking technical requirements and drafting RFQs for external vendors
Support PM/PS in analysing product performance returns for evaluation with factory/vendor, generate written customer reports, and clearly communicate findings
Define and own lean processes for engineering tasks such as drawing creation, Doclink upload, TCPN setups, BOM, etc
Drive engineering related monthly updates with relevant stakeholders with the aim to close off any remaining open topics
Maintain industry, technical, application knowledge and other skills to increase personal effectiveness
Willingness to travel 20-30% domestic and/or international – customer visits, association presentations, field training, etc.
Job Requirements
Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics Engineering, with 3 years of experience in Energy or relevant industries (IEC or AS/NZS regulated).
Experience in Product Development highly regarded
Excellent 2D/3D CAD skills (PTC Creo / Pro Engineer highly regarded.)
Experience arranging Type Testing / Compliance Testing of electrical products to IEC or AS/NZS Standards – highly regarded
Experience deciphering requirements of IEC or AS/NZS Electrical Standards– highly regarded
Relevant product or industry experience desired
