Perform and manage the buying functions for assigned commodities. Duties include responsibility for material replenishment processes, inventory management to support 100% on-time delivery goals and cost goals.

Assure that materials are available to meet the needs of customers based on MRP in a cost effective fashion within the volumes specified by the SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

POSITION FOCUS:

  • Maintain materials to support 100% on-time delivery and cost goals for assigned value stream(s). This includes inventory management for spikes-in-demand, obsolesence, and prevention of excess inventory.

  • Run MRP and place orders for raw materials and components with established suppliers.

  • Negotiate with suppliers for expedites, MOQ pricing, quality issues, past due shipments, and stock-outs. Ability to escalate to Commodity Manager for escalation resolution

  • Maintain the order replenishment system for fabricated parts, purchase parts, and stock parts.

  • Manage the implementation of prototypes, new listings, and modified components as driven by ECOs and engineering orders.

  • Work with commodity Managers to understand the commodity strategies to insure on time supplier deliveries

  • Identify, negotiate, and bring to resolution any demand/supply imbalances in both volume and mix.

  • Monitor forecast consumption and the proper use of Available to Promise.

  • Liaison daily with Value Stream Manager to insure sales demands are well understood.

  • Manage inventory to improve turns and decrease dollar value (finished goods & point-of-use)

  • Manage smaller sourcing projects (RFQ, tool transfers, and analytics) for sourcing decisions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS OR EQUIVALENCIES:

  • Bachelors degree required. Technical or B.S. degree in engineering, mathematics, or supply chain is a plus

  • Ability to manipulate and process data in databases and Excel.

  • 3-5 years of related buying or materials experience.

  • Experience with kanban replenishment systems.

  • Experience with ERP / MRP software. Demonstrated knowledge of JD Edwards preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of MRP and Bill of Material maintenance.

  • APICS or related materials certification is a plus.
