Primary Purpose: The Controls Technician will implement and maintain controls systems (Delta V) for industrial machinery and equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations that meet the organization's quality standards.

Essential Functions and Requirements:

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.

  • Maintains control systems by performing regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs to ensure optimal functionality.

  • Integrates and installs control systems with existing processes, machinery, and equipment to optimize production efficiency and quality; maintains communications between systems.

  • Conducts thorough testing and calibration of control systems to ensure functionality, reliability, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Identifies and troubleshoots issues with control systems, including hardware and software components, and implements appropriate solutions to minimize downtime and mitigate safety risks.

  • Prepares comprehensive documentation, including specifications, schematics, user manuals, and technical reports to facilitate system understanding; trains operations and maintenance personnel on applicable computer systems.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams (internal and external) including design specialists, electrical/mechanical engineers, project and operations managers and suppliers to ensure seamless integration of control systems and gain insights from stakeholders on cost, equipment considerations and concerns.

  • Proactively identifies opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements and cost reduction through the implementation of advanced control strategies and technologies.

  • Coordinates project activities with applicable government regulatory agencies.

  • Performs on-call duties for DCS issues as needed.

Education: High school diploma required. Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, technology, or similar field preferred.

Experience: Minimum three (3) years' experience with Delta V and automation systems programming and installation.

Knowledge and Abilities: Strong understanding of plant control systems and technical knowledge related to instrumentation diagrams. Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems and identify root causes. Ability to manage multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines with shifting priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to both lead and work within a team environment. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, background check, and drug screen. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
