Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services, gather quotations, examine bids, and award contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with the manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. They also look for and recommend cost saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria as well as develop specifications for new contract orders.

  • Drive savings opportunities (identify, quantify, capture) throughout supply base

  • Proactively analyze of gaps and opportunities and manage preparation of negotiations inline with the regional strategy

  • Engage internal customers and suppliers as needed to assure clear understanding of technical requirements. Participate in crossfuntional teams as required

  • Regional SPoC for purchasing matters related to the responsible indirect Subcommodities

  • Ensure timely execution of operational procurement tasks e.g., awarding, system data maintenance, negotiation of contractual agreements, post order management

  • Cost structure analysis, control of quotes in relation to total cost

  • Drive end to end Purchasing Projects with full accountability for results

  • Transform ICT Business Requirements and global Sourcing Strategy into regional ICT tailored strategy

  • Support the implementation of the regional supply base strategy

  • Generate and negotiate technical saving projects in cooperation with the technical departments

  • Negotiate regional and local contracts and ensure compliance

  • Drive process automation and simplification

  • Identify and ramp-up competitive new suppliers

  • Ensure adherence of team to all TE policies, ensure data accuracy

  • Support the TEOA-P initiatives and Star Level attainment for the Purchasing Team.

  • Proactive early involvement in commodity related and/or local projects, ensure timely implementation

What your background should look like:

  • University degree, or equivalent

  • Purchasing Professional with min. 5 years experience of strategic sourcing within a global / multicultural environment

  • Additional Technical Background (preferred Custom Automatization) and Experience with TE’s requirements is a plus

  • Strong methodology/strategic knowledge as well as operational/tactical skills

  • Trackrecord of successful negotiations in the context of indirect Procurement within the automotive industry

  • Strong background on strategic purchasing fundamentals in a global environment is beneficial (seven steps of strategic sourcing, C.P.M qualification)

  • Strong leadership skills: demonstrated ability to lead in a dynamic environment (lead Dotted Line Subteams, Projects etc)

  • Advanced Project Management skills

  • Advanced SAP knowledge required

  • Strong Communication skills in a multi-cultural environment

  • Excellent communication skills in English, German or French is a plus

  • Ability to simplify high complexity

  • Accountability for deliverables and results

  • Advanced knowledge in the use of MS Office applications, i.e. Excel, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint

  • eSourcing / eRfx / Contract Management experience Zycus / Jaggaer / Fairmarkit would be a plus
