Midwest Goods Inc. Overnight Building Repair Technician in Bensenville, Illinois

Location: Bensenville, IL

Schedule: Sunday-Thursday 5:30pm to 2:30 am

Status: Full-time (Non-exempt)

Compensation: Starting at $25.00 hourly

$300 Sign-on Bonus After Completion of the 90-day Probationary Period

The Overnight Building Repair Technician will provide support for maintenance on any related need for the company prior to outsourcing when needed. Will be under general supervision, to ensure a hazard-free establishment in all the areas of the property lot both inside and outside.

Essential Functions

  • Provides detailed maintenance upon receipt of inquiries through our Facilities Request Work System with or without direct or indirect supervision.

  • Performs routine maintenance on all systems associated with the building both interior and exterior as well as all mechanical, motorized, and stationary equipment used daily on the floor.

  • Dedicates time to track any ordering of supplies and materials for the given project, while maintaining neat organization of purchase orders and submitting them for

    approval.

  • Assists and performs solo on all assigned tasks and keeps the workspace area with tools and materials organized at all times.

  • Responsible for doing maintenance work on company assets such as Carts, Ladders, Step Ladders, Pallet Jacks (Manual and Electric ), Forklift ( Propane and Electric ), Dollies etc.

  • Responsible for doing roof maintenance from time to time.

  • Responsible for doing the weekly checks on the manhole and company water drains inside and outside.

  • Responsible for repairing the warehouse floor as and when needed.

  • Responsible for looking into the safety aspect of the task before starting to work on it.

  • Required to work in all types of weather conditions.

  • Responsible for specific functions including but are not limited to: sweeping and cleaning the work space, utilizing power tools and general tools, handling all shapes and sizes of material with proper labeling, safely transporting materials and purchased

    orders from location to location, safely maneuvering motorized equipment, wearing the necessary PPE, uses sources to properly and successfully accomplish the task on hand, and inspects and diagnosis all inquiries by maintaining service and repair records.

  • Ability to use basic carpentry, plumbing, drywall/painting, electric power tools, custodial, and troubleshooting skills effectively.

  • Ability to demonstrate management skills, and maintain cooperative working relationships with a Customer Client Focus.

  • Sustaining productivity and time management meeting all deadlines.

  • Detail orientation with a mindset towards meeting high standards and professionalism.

  • Demonstrating good verbal and written communication skills while interacting with all levels of staff, guests, and contractors.

  • Proficiently assist in specialized projects provided by executives and attend emergency call-ins upon request from all staff members.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in and out of the warehouse /distribution center environment where the noise level can be loud and non-climate controlled. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending all day. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds as necessary.
