Job Description

The Java Platform Group is looking for an experienced, passionate, and highly motivated Software Infrastructure Engineer (Devops) to join our world class development efforts. Our team is responsible for delivering the Java platform that is used by millions of developers. We are looking for a seasoned engineer with a thorough understanding of infrastructure and automation methodologies, a passion for quality, a strong technical background to advance our processes, and a desire to make a positive change in our product.

Responsibilities:We hire developers to write code to create new, maintain existing Infrastructure service to build, test and release the Java Platform product. Growth in this role means growing as an engineer: strong designs that are built to last, deep component knowledge and broad scenario experience will be measures of success as a candidate grows in this role. The primary focus for this position will be on infrastructure server technologies.

  • You will build, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for building JDK and related products

  • Duties may include debugging C, Java or Shell code for different Platforms.

  • You will extensively use distributed build architecture, configuration management and continuous integration like Jenkins.

  • You will specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing requirements.

  • A strong technical background as well as good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Work closely with engineering teams to understand new technologies, design and develop automation scripts to streamline the release

  • Designing and developing tools/frameworks that improve efficiency and automation.

  • Ensuring timely software releases by improving efficiency, productivity and consistency through robust and automation of infrastructure service

Job Requirement:

  • B Tech in a Computer Science, Software or other Engineering

  • 7+ years of experience in Software Development/Devops

  • Expert level understanding in cloud, associated technologies and administration(AWS, OCI etc)

  • Experience in writing shell scripts, Linux administration

  • Clear understanding of the build processes, compilers, linker and Makefiles

  • Good in operating system concepts and commands, daemons and services; Especially unix environment. Windows is a bonus

  • Strong background with build automation technologies (Make, Ant, Maven, Gradle..)

  • Extensive troubleshooting experience across multiple platforms/architectures

  • Strong exposure on Building infrastructure, tools and processes for continuous integration (Jenkins or equivalent)

  • Strong exposure on one or more configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet

  • Strong exposure on container technologies such as docker, podman and setting up build/test environments

  • Ability to conceive, plan, implement, and collaborate with distributed teams on process improvements and productivity enhancement tools

  • Desirable to have expertise on the atlassian stack (Jira, Crucible, Wiki)

  • Strong experience in one or more source code management tools such as GIT

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc. As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs. Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
