Job Description:

As a Senior SRE on the Database and Application Infrastructure Engineering team part of PE Org, you will be a key member of the team that manages and supports the database and Application infrastructure for internal business partners at LinkedIn. The team handles the day-to-day management of internal databases and application servers supporting LinkedIn business enterprise software and application development efforts. 

Responsibilities:

Participation in engineering duties for the Database and Application Infra Engineering team, including management of existing databases, deployment of new ones, and the overall support and monitoring of the Microsoft SQL Server platform, including on-call rotation.

Build & Maintain MSSQL server clusters On-Prem and in Azure supporting business application databases across multiple data centers and on the Microsoft Azure platform.  

Automate in PowerShell or Python all the SQL/Windows Operational tasks. 

Develop tools to enhance our ability to deploy and monitor databases and custom home-grown applications rapidly in both on-premises and multi-cloud environments.

Ensure that the services are designed to scale effectively with resiliency, performance, and security considerations.

Build & Maintain Azure DevOps pipeline to provision and manage Azure SQL databases and data-related IaaS/PaaS components.

Implement and stay up to date with Cloud and DevOps industry best practices and tooling.

Work with internal stakeholders and vendors to onboard, troubleshoot or improve on hosted databases and Applications Servers.

Work collaboratively with peers on virtualization and cross-platform interoperability tasks.

Basic Qualifications: 

B.S./B. Tech in Computer Science or related technical field.

8 + years in IT with relevant 5+ related to MS SQL Database management.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Experience in building, administrating, and maintaining databases such as MS SQL Azure SQL, including (Oracle DB, MySQL DB, Cosmos DB etc.)

Maintaining High-Availability (HA) MSSQL server environments including working with stakeholders to onboard databases, create maintenance plans including.

Experience working in Microsoft Azure SQL Offerings (Logical and Managed Azure SQL PaaS components)

Experience working in an SRE organization managing and maintaining systems and applications.

Ability to implement the site reliability engineering concepts to meet desired SLA/SLO/SLI and build the resilient Database and Application platforms at scale.

Experience with developing automation scripts for database engineering with languages such as, but not limited to, (PowerShell, Python, C#.NET, Java, Etc.)

Experience with web-based Java/J2EE architectures and JVM configuration.

Experience working in Microsoft Azure pipeline DevOps and coding ARM templates.

Experience with configuration management systems, such Ansible and Chef.

Experience with backup/recovery/DR/monitoring, and tune for performance  

Excellent communication, presentation, and teamwork skills.

Experience securing Windows & Linux OS, MSSQL Servers, and Windows Applications/Services 

Experience configuring MSSQL auditing. 

Experience in scripting, authoring custom PowerShell cmdlets and modules, PowerShell best practices Desired State Configuration (DSC) using Puppet. 

Experience with cloud and hybrid compute and database architecture including Microsoft Azure. 

Strong PowerShell skills, .NET experience a plus 

Experience in scripting with SQL, JSON, and REST
