Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure team is building new Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with outstanding compute, storage, networking, database, and security. Requirements:

Do you want to build great things in a vibrant, smart, high energy team? Are you an experienced developer looking for a role to have a bigger technical impact? We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our chaos engineering development team. The ideal candidate will be technically strong and must have an understanding of large-scale distributed systems such as cloud-based environments.

As a Principal Engineer you will be responsible for architecting sophisticated systems with high scalability, performance, and security. You will be taking the defined cloud ops objectives, leveraging the understanding of the data model and producing analytics to provide actionable insights. You will partner with other development teams responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing solutions within a distributed computing environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years experience in a software development environment

• Development experience in Java/Python, SQL, object oriented programming and scripting languages

• Good understanding of system concepts (networking, storage, compute)

• Experience working with other cloud platform teams and accommodating requirements from those teams (compute, networking, search, store).

• Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present sophisticated information in a clear, concise manner to all audiences

• Comfortable in a collaborative, agile development environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity and understanding of distributed computing and cloud-based platforms.

• Familiarity and understanding of Chaos Engineering principles.

• Experience with Jira, Confluence, BitBucket

• Understanding of cross-functional platform feature areas in cloud platforms.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
