Job Description Summary

Should Cost is a physics-based cost analysis to better understand cost drivers and improve negotiation leverage. Availability of Should cost data helps sourcing make right negotiations with suppliers. The goal of this assignment is to- Estimate should cost of Sourced parts; Gain insights from should cost analysis to deliver cost out benefits partnering with Sourcing & P2V teams

The Lead Engineer will be leading Gas Power Should Cost project for flange to flange commodities, demonstrate project leadership skills to achieve on time deliverables. In this role you will be working closely with Costing tools, Manufacturing & Engineering teams to align IEO Should Cost team efforts with biz priorities & contribute to cost out goal.

Job Description

Essential responsibilities

• Drive execution of Sourcing Should Cost project for Gas Power sourcing commodities– plan resources & timelines, track progress, manage risk, pivot (as required), identify potential opportunities from should cost studies, partner with sourcing to leverage should cost estimates for supplier negotiations & track deflation outcomes

• Partner with Supply Chain (VPE, Mfg & Sourcing ), P2V teams to enable Cost Out and Strategic Sourcing Pillars on Should cost efforts to influence Should Cost Vs Deals review, Make Vs Buy etc...

• Facilitate brainstorming sessions within the project team to identify cost out opportunities from Should Cost efforts, formulate recommendations & partner with P2V teams & component owners to drive cost out projects on WAVE to deliver biz outcomes

• Develop new methodologies/tools to identify cost out opportunities

• Provide coaching & mentoring to the team on Mfg, Cost out processes & negotiation dynamics.

• Demonstrate strategic acumen by expanding should cost studies application to other functions in the org and thus drive sustainable cost productivity

• Work closely with Cost model development program team in providing insights on costing methods improvement & validation.

Qualifications / Requirements

Bachelor’s/Masters degree from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 10 years of experience in should cost

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing domain, experience is supplier negotiations leveraging should cost.

• Demonstrated project leadership and awareness/exposure to LEAN methodologies to achieve program goals

• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and influence customer and peers across cross functional global teams

• Demonstrated expertise in product cost out, should cost analysis, driving cost out ideas to closure to achieve biz benefits.

• Demonstrated understanding of the financial impact of technical solutions

Desired Characteristics

• Master’s degree in Production engineering from an accredited university or college

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

• Significant experience with Sourcing & Manufacturing teams

• Ability to make formal presentations to all levels of the organization, customers and peers
