Job Description Summary

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities :

• Independently execute tasks using your technical skills for projects in the fields of fluid dynamics including multi-phase flow

• Participate in high fidelity computational analyses of aircraft engine components using existing software or by creating new analysis methods, including code development

• Participate in the development of codes to add capability and fidelity that support future aircraft engine aerodynamic design process

• Develop ideas and concepts to improve aerodynamic performance and operability of aircraft engine components.

• Network across GE Aerospace to understand and solve critical business problems: developing proposals, building plans and executing on these research and technology programs.

Qualifications/Requirements :

• Doctorate in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related fields with at least 6-8 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with at least 8-10 years of relevant experience

• Strong knowledge of physical fluid dynamics, multiphase flow – fundamental concepts and applications – including direct experience with computational methods as applied to the above

• Experience in meshing & using engineering simulation/analysis tools (such as CFX or Fluent)

• Fluency in basic programming using C, C++, Fortran, Python, MATLAB

• Ability to investigate, model and provide critical insight into complex physical flow phenomena.

• Demonstrated good teaming skills and ability to work with wide range of technical teams and projects

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired Characteristics:

• Demonstrated experience in working with large code bases of computational fluid dynamic tools

• Experience in unsteady CFD – URANS, LES & DNS modelling

• Demonstrated understanding of atmospheric dynamics and experience with climate models

• Demonstrated experience of operating in HPC environments and with GPU computing
