Job Description Summary:

Rocket Software is a leading global developer of software products that help corporations, government agencies, and other organizations reach their technology and business goals. Thirteen-hundred Rocketeers on five continents build and deliver mission-critical solutions for more than ten-thousand customers and partners.

Rocket Software is looking for a dynamic Information Developer to join our vibrant, global content team. This contributor will bring creativity and enthusiasm for new technologies to our Rocket products. The ideal candidate enjoys working closely with team members from many disciplines and continually striving to improve the content experience of our products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Plans, organizes, and develops content that supports customer needs including in product and user content, reference guides, and release notes

  • Participates in product grooming, planning, and development meetings

  • Collaborates with product management, development, project managers, customer support, and users to plan, create, and update product content that supports the business strategy

  • May participate in user research and evaluating the product interface from the user perspective

  • Works with an editor and/or a content strategist as necessary

  • May assist in developing blog posts, community articles, and white papers that contribute to customer success

  • Maintains up to date knowledge on trends and best practices for developing software content

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Journalism, English, or another technical discipline

  • 8+ years of experience working as an Information Developer

  • Expertise in DITA and associated information development tools

  • Comprehensive understanding of minimalism and structured authoring

  • Understanding of software technologies and APIs

  • Ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies

  • Ability to think critically and propose content to address customer needs

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented team player with excellent time-management and organizational skills

  • Fluent in spoken and written English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and ability to work in a command line interface

  • Knowledge of platforms, such as UNIX including Linux, IBM i, and IBM z

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Journalism, English, or another technical discipline
