Primary Purpose

This position will assist Admission and Records staff with general office duties, including filing, mailings, data entry and various projects or college events as needed.

Essenatial Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical support to Admissions and Records office.

  • File paper documents.

  • Answering Phones

  • Taking credit card payments over the phone

  • Prep and assemble multiple mailings to prospective and current students, which include labeling, alphabetizing, stuffing envelopes and, at times using the folder/inserter machine

  • Scan and electronically file confidential documents.

  • Input privacy-protected data in COCC’s student database. Requires attention to detail.

  • Assist staff with new student advising sessions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned as they pertain to the overall objective of the position

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the duties and responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. The incumbent is expected to follow College work rules and policies.

  • Knowledge and experience with email, Internet, word processing, and spreadsheets (preferably experience with MS Office Suite products).

  • Proficiency with basic computer operations and keyboard.

  • Good communication skills and ability to take direction

  • Knowledge of standard office equipment and phones.

  • Skills in organization and filing.

  • Demonstrated experience with accurate grammar, spelling, editing and proofreading skills.

  • Good spelling and keyboarding skills are necessary.

    Ergonomic Requirements

Work will be performed during regular working hours in an office setting, mostly sitting with some periods of extended standing. Occasional lifting between 10-25 lbs. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms and requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary telephonic conversations. Computer screen is used more than 50 percent of the time. Must be able to climb or pull self upward and guide, feeding materials into proper position. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Must have been awarded and Accepted Federal Work-Study for 2023-24

  • Must be Meeting Satisfactory Academic Process for Financial Aid
