JOB REQUIREMENTS: Assembler Large Engine - 1020 DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary Function: Assemble a variety of large engines Tools & Equipment: Fixtures, parallels, arbor presses, torque wrenches, air drills, air grinders, hydraulic jacks, surface plates, impact wrenches, heating elements, torches, hand tools such as hammers, files, scrapers, chisels, hacksaws, wrenches, screwdrivers and pliers; measuring instruments such as scales, micrometers, feeler gages, indicators, strain gages, bridge gages; blueprints; hoists, overhead cranes and lifting devices. Special tools or fixtures specific to engine assembly; standard work documents. Stanisol and pressure cleaning devices. Dry ice, CO2 and liquid nitrogen. Working Procedure: * Receive assignment, drawings and/or verbal instructions. * Assemble engine complete to drawing specifications performing operations such as burr, file, surface, drill, tap, ream, dowel shim water test and clean parts as required. * Assemble miscellaneous parts and sub-assemblies such as crankshafts, lower base, block, connecting rod, camshafts and bearing gear assemblies; assemble cams, fuel oil pump assemblies, control rods and make final settings; assemble lube oil pump and associated parts. * Fit and assemble piping/tubing received from piping department or pre-manufactured pipe/tubing. * Assemble all controls to engine, governor and distributor rive; assemble and fit gas cam housing and gearing to engine, set timing, set in alternator, set rotor to stator, align to crank extension, adjust air gap and torque bolts; assemble rotor arm housings, rocker arms and pins, turbo-chargers and associated brackets. * Maintain tolerances by fitting, aligning an adjusting. * Disassemble and reassemble parts during the wear in and test procedures. Dismantle engine, clean up and replace any worn parts and prepare for shipping according to customer specifications or company shipping. * Handle parts by hand up to 75 pounds, heavier parts by hoist or overhead crane as appropriate.
