About the role

Mastertaste Inc. seeks Senior Process Technology Engineer at its facility located at 3400 Millington Rd, Beloit, WI 53511.

Key responsibilities

Perform chemical engineering principles to understand how the equipment, raw materials, temperatures, pressures, and many other process parameters are optimized to drive the highest possible yields with the lowest costs while improving production efficiency. Work regularly to improve knowledge of the processes involved in making stocks and broths and will collaborate extensively with research and development, manufacturing, engineering, accounting, quality, and other resources to define a business plan for driving process technology-based projects. Adjust and reprioritize plans multiple times during the year to meet new customer needs. Direct the efforts of a process technology technician in the execution of multiple projects in the process technology area. Investigate and resolve operational problems, such as material use variances or bottlenecks and lead teams through application of continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing and six sigma to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Identification of best-in-class processing solutions that aligns fully with corporate and regulatory standards for sanitary design, ergonomics, employee safety and food safety requirements. Key stakeholder in the design, development, and creation of scope for engineering projects or the engineering work of the department to achieve maximum efficiency. Initiate the conceptual design and develop the project justification for capital projects. Support the bid process, budgeting, and submission process for capital and operational projects. Act as the technical receiver for new projects and ensure they perform to expectations. Own and update the repository of engineering documentation, including flow sheets, risk analyses, permits and compliance documentation as required.

Qualifications and skills

This position requires a bachelors degree, or foreign equivalent, in Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field plus five (5) years of experience in a chemical engineering or food manufacturing role. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Integrating extraction technology like Aqueous-based batch extraction; (2) Installing separation technology like Micro-filtration, centrifugation, clarification; (3) Employing concentration technology like Membrane concentration and Multiple-effect vacuum evaporation; (4) Utilizing Aseptic processing like HTST/UHT Fluid processing and Low-Acid Aseptic Food Processing; (5) Utilizing Aseptic Packaging like Low-acid aseptic packaging; (6) Implementing hygienic zoning as clean-room classification for aseptic processing and packaging; and (7) Building applications based on Ammonia refrigeration systems and Process-Safety Management (PSM) fundamentals. Telecommuting: Telecommuting permitted. Travel Requirements: 75% domestic travel for plant worksite visits and business meetings.
