Utilities Service, LLC Engineer I - AES in Bellingham, Washington

Engineer I

The Engineer Position will support utility project engineers and project managers in the planning, engineering and design of electric distribution projects. Under the guidance of PM or Senior Planner, the Planner will make site visits, take measurements, use structural programs and utilize various utility programs and data centers in support of these projects, ensuring projects are designed to current utility, federal and state standard. This candidate will be responsible to take a project from inception (scope of work) and see it through to construction (as-built). Site visits are required, locations will be in the northern territory of WA state. Under the guidance of a PM or Senior Planner, the planner assists in coordination and communication tasks with other departments such as Drafting, Real Estate, Environmental, Permitting, System Planning, ETC.

Job Type : Full-Time +, Exempt

Pay : $52,100-$73,500 depending on experience.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Applies various engineering and design methods to ensure quality deliverables for the customer.

  • Conducts site visits, take measurements, utilize various utility programs /data centers in support of these projects, ensuring projects are designed to current utility, federal and state standard.

  • Identifies the scope of an assigned project and decides logical action to meet project requirements and deadlines.

  • Facilitates communication between service providers and internal/external customers, which may include technical support at the direction of a project manager.

  • Responds to customer concerns and works with appropriate parties for resolution.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • AutoCAD experience.

  • Experience managing multiple projects.

  • Strong communication skills, strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills for single of multiple technical areas, critical thinking skills.

  • Knowledge of utility methods, techniques and procedures involved in distribution design.

  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communications skills and ability to work as part of a team.

  • Customer-oriented, a positive, team-oriented and collaborative attitude, flexibility, an understanding.

Education & Experience

  • Engineer I: 0-3 years relevant work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Design or related discipline.

Pre-Screen

  • Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications:

  • Driver's License required.
