Amazon Sr. Compliance Assurance Manager, Field - Governance, Compliance & External Affairs in Bellevue, Washington

Description

The Compliance Assurance Manager will be responsible for strategic legal compliance, including assurance processes design, development, testing, implementation, verification, and continual improvement. The role will engage, collaborate, and partner with Amazon businesses, geographical units, and technical subject matter experts (SMEs) in Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and other functions (i.e., field operations, governmental affairs, legal, engineering, data scientists, business intelligence engineers, purchasing) to continually reduce risk. More specifically, this role will serve to assist with strategy and scalable and reliable actions for managing workplace health and safety (WHS) compliance in different jurisdictions across the globe. The role involves self-driven, independent, and hands-on work in the areas of understanding stakeholder needs and expectations, legal research, stakeholder engagement, data analysis, investigation and root cause analysis, and risk management.

Role involves travel 20-30% locally and internationally.

Key job responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Workplace health and safety compliance

• Key responsibilities include defining, applying, and defending health and safety compliance requirements; operating in alignment with legal or regulatory requirements; and testing, remediating, and enhancing risk management controls. Partners with legal teams to interpret and define obligations. Engage cross-organizationally with leadership to design program controls and test strategy. Influence senior leadership to implement strategic and programmatic controls.

• Key responsibilities include defining and applying risk tolerances; measuring management and communicating health and safety legal risk. Influence leadership in the establishment of organization-level risk management.

Promote culture of workplace health and safety compliance and risk management

• Key responsibilities include building risk management awareness within organizations; providing subject matter expertise; and acting as a risk management evangelist. Maintain subject matter expertise and current industry knowledge to advise senior leadership on emerging trends and potential impact on strategic roadmap. Ensure risk management team is actively involved in organizational roadmap discussions. Develop and deliver risk management training to senior leadership. Conceptualize and drive implementation of cross-product technical risk management solutions to drive program efficiencies.

• Should be an effective communicator and send clear, concise, and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing.

Basic Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level

  • 6+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience

  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, influencing and program/project management in multinational companies.

  • Communication skills – verbal and written.

  • Analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving.

  • Have an understanding of Workplace Health & Safety legal requirements (US OSHA) or other regulatory requirements and international industry best practices requirements.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational, Health and Safety (OSH), Environmental, Health and Safety (WHS), or other related fields from an accredited university

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification

  • Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent

  • Master's degree or equivalent

  • Preferably has Amazon project deployment, implementation and verification experience.

  • Have experience in leading ISO multisite audit and certification in ISO45001 (OHSAS18001), ISO14001, or ISO9001.

  • Have or working towards CSP, CIH, NEBOSH, or CHMM certification.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $198,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
