Amazon Senior Design Program Manager - Amazon Delivery, LMDT- Design & Research in Bellevue, Washington

Description

Amazon Delivery Experience (ADX) is the multidisciplinary design studio responsible for envisioning and delivering end-to-end, customer-focused solutions across the ecosystem of products that power Amazon Delivery including such areas as Middle Mile and Last Mile.

As a Senior Design Program Manager, you will focus on elevating design impact through tools, resources, expertise, and operational excellence. You will dive deep with key product teams, development partners, and design team members across multiple products and/or areas. You will drive the creation and maintenance of a work environment that empowers ADX designers to do their best work in a way that is innovative, sustainable, and customer obsessed.

You will demonstrate ownership and systems thinking as you tailor your mechanisms and support to the unique needs of your designers and their products. You will also support the ADX team of design program managers and collaborate with them to improve the design practice and operational excellence of the entire studio.

Key job responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

Needs will vary based on the designers and products in your programs. Responsibilities may include:

  • Facilitate team scrum ceremonies (stand-up, sprint planning, retros, etc)

  • Evolve, document and model team mechanisms

  • Compose design program PRFAQ’s, business review docs, and work-back plans

  • Advocate for the happiness and productivity of your designers

  • Forge relationships with product and engineering leaders to maximize design contributions

  • Protect vision and align design team goals

  • Captain team communications and oversee releases

About the team

As a part of the ADX DesignOps Team, you will be supported by a community of design program managers and collaborate to improve studio-wide operations.

  • Leverage the collective expertise of fellow DPM’s

  • Workshop new mechanisms and provide feedback to others

  • Share mechanisms that work

  • Drive studio tools and resources

  • Create and drive connections with the larger Operations Design Community

  • Shape the future of ADX by driving strategic studio-level projects

Basic Qualifications

  • Knowledge of human-centered design process

  • Experience understanding needs of business and end customers and translating them into right solutions

  • 5+ years of design experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of project management tools and methodologies (agile to waterfall)

  • Experience working and contributing to project playbooks, building schedules, managing issues/risks, establishing communication plans and stakeholder management

  • Experience gathering and analyzing large amounts of data and delivering continuous business improvements

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $103,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $192,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
