Job Overview:

Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. Demonstrates competence in all areas of special radiographic preparation, and technical factors. Operates all special procedures equipment and is proficient in selecting technical factors.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate of an approved AMA School of Radiologic Technology.

  • Possess current state licensure.

  • Two years experience in Special Procedure Technology.

Essential Functions:

  • Always provides protection to patients and other team members in accordance with radiation safety standards.

  • Assists physician with special procedures such as vascular, neurological, and digital, utilizing specialized equipment.

  • Consistently produces images of high quality.

  • Controls inventory and purchase of supplies for Special Procedure section.

  • Demonstrates appropriate skills in operating special equipment, special radiologic positioning and selecting proper techniques.

  • Maintain room, supplies, and equipment in a ready state in order to increase overall efficiency of procedure.

  • Maintains records of special procedure examinations and other pertinent information on patients.

  • Observes patient and equipment during procedure and reports any unusual occurrences.

  • Performs routine diagnostic procedures when not scheduled to work in Special Procedure or CT area.

  • Rotate Call with a team of Special Procedure Technologists and report to the Department within thirty minutes of being called.

  • Rotates through CT Department when scheduled.

  • Upgrades charges for procedures and supplies via computer.
