Position Overview:The Process Improvement Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining scanning and optimization equipment to maximize lumber yield and quality in our sawmill operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular calibration and maintenance of sawmill scanning equipment to ensure accurate and reliable performance.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with scanners, including hardware and software components.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers and vendors to resolve technical issues and procure necessary parts and supplies.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and maximize scanner uptime.
  • Optimize scanner settings and configurations to improve accuracy, speed, and efficiency.
  • Train sawmill operators and maintenance personnel on proper scanner operation, calibration, and maintenance procedures.
  • Document maintenance activities, including calibration records, service logs, and equipment specifications.
  • Monitor scanner performance and conduct regular quality checks to ensure consistent and reliable results.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices related to sawmill scanning technology and optimization.
  • Collaborate with management and other stakeholders to develop long-term strategies for enhancing scanner performance and efficiency.
