Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA) is one of the world's leading research institutions, driving innovations in various areas of computer science and technology. Now we are looking for Researchers in areas such as (but not limited to) Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, AI Foundations, Societal AI, AI infrastructure (Systems/Networking/Architecture), Computer Vision, Multimedia, and Graphics (3D and Video), Robotics, Wireless sensing and communication, and Natural Interaction . This is an exceptional opportunity to drive an ambitious research agenda while collaborating with diverse teams to push for novel applications of those areas

Responsibilities

  1. Conduct cutting-edge research in one or more of the following areas: Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, AI Foundations, Societal AI, AI infrastructure (Systems/Networking/Architecture), Computer Vision, Multimedia, and Graphics (3D and Video), Robotics, Wireless sensing and communication, and Natural Interaction.

  2. Identify important future research directions and articulate a compelling vision to lead the field(s) towards the future, with the potential for significant business and/or societal impact.

  3. Stay abreast of the state-of-the-art insights, tools, technologies, or methods being used in the research community. Apply deep subject matter expert knowledge of specialized tools/methods to support research project planning. Evaluate insights based on their impact and value.

  4. Drive a research agenda through one or more projects, resulting in the development of new algorithms, prototypes, theories, tools, methods, analyses, insights, or data collections within specific subareas or across a broad research domain.

  5. Foster collaborative relationships with relevant product and business groups, both internal and external to the organization, and serve as an expert resource, providing expertise or technology to support their needs.

  6. Collaborate with other researchers or research groups to contribute to and advance a shared research agenda. Review papers, organize workshops or conference sessions, and publish papers as the lead author in high-quality conferences and journals.

Qualifications

  1. Strong research abilities demonstrated through a track record of impactful contributions in the field, such as publications in top-tier journals and conferences or significant research achievements.

  2. Deep expertise and knowledge in one or more research areas, such as Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, AI Foundations, Societal AI, AI infrastructure (Systems/Networking/Architecture), Computer Vision, Multimedia, and Graphics (3D and Video), Robotics, Wireless sensing and communication, or Natural Interaction.

  3. A passion for addressing real-world challenges and making a meaningful impact on society through research.

  4. Proven ability to identify and pursue innovative research directions, and the capability to articulate a compelling vision to drive the field(s) forward.

  5. Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with product and business groups, as well as other researchers or research groups.

  6. Demonstrated ability to review papers, organize workshops or conference sessions, and publish research findings in high-quality conferences and journals.

  7. Experience in leading or participating in research projects of significant importance, with outcomes that have been widely recognized and respected within the research community.
