MITRE’s Finance organization is seeking a Financial Analyst to support MITRE Labs and the Innovation Centers Finance Team. As a Financial Analyst, you will serve as a trusted advisor to MITRE Labs and its Senior and Vice Presidents, Directors, Department Managers, and Project Leaders. As a Financial Analyst, you will serve as the primary source of day-to-day financial management and business decision support to Division Directors, Department Managers, and Project Leaders – playing a key part in the business operations functions that maximize MITRE’s value to our government sponsors.

The work will be in our McLean, Virginia or Bedford, Massachusetts office and aligned to MITRE’s Flexible work model.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Full-lifecycle financial and end-to-end business support of Innovation Center work programs (e.g. Business development, bid and proposal, budgeting and forecasting, resource management, execution, and financial reviews)

  • Lead recurring financial business reviews with Innovation Center Directors to drive accountability for Innovation Center P&Ls and new Business Development

  • Analyze and diagnose business drivers and variances to budget using various financial systems with focus on lessons learned and recommendations for Leadership actions

  • Develop financial projections using various methods and tools

  • Communicate financial results effectively with useful visual narratives and concise actions

  • Support annual budget and quarterly forecast process managing demand signals and Indirect spend

  • Support Leadership on financial performance management, financial planning, and ad-hoc projects

  • Prepare and deliver necessary supporting analytics to assist Leadership in decision-making

  • Partner across the Finance organization to understand business drivers and needs that assist MITRE Labs for stronger execution

  • Ensure strong operating financial controls and adherence to MITRE Finance policies

  • Support Business Transformation and Process Reengineering efforts

  • Execute the operational processes in support of MITRE’s non-traditional business

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate findings into actionable solutions and processes

  • Demonstrated success working closely with and presenting to stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Resourceful self-starter who executes on commitments

  • Mindset of continuous improvement with the capacity to drive change

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and influencing skills

  • Consensus builder: Promote ideas and gain buy-in on new approaches

  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent work streams while maintaining high quality output

  • Experience with Deltek Cost Point, Tableau, and/or Cognos Analytics, OneStream, Workday preferred
