Town of Bedford Heavy Equipment Operator in Bedford, Massachusetts

Job Description/Duties: A Heavy Equipment Operator position is available in the Bedford Public Works Highway Division for a mature person to perform various public works jobs and to operate equipment of substantial complexity. Work requires a frequent and high level of physical effort under various weather conditions. Proven ability to operate construction equipment such as backhoes, front-end loaders, skid steers, heavy plowing equipment and paving maintenance equipment is required. Qualifications include a High School diploma, a valid Massachusetts Class B Commercial Driving License with air brake endorsement, a 2A/1C Hydraulic Hoisting License, and a proven good driving record, as evidenced by a Registry of Motor Vehicles report. The position includes a 5 day, 40 hour work week in addition to mandated overtime during emergencies or special work details such as snowstorms and event staffing. Experience in highway and plowing is required. If selected candidate would have six months to obtain required licenses. Starting salary is \$1,019.56 per week plus any additional stipends depending on qualifications.
