SAIC Drafter CAD Operator III in BEDFORD, Indiana

Description

SAIC is looking for a Drafter CAD Operator III in Bedford, IN to support the U.S. Navy.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Candidate must have knowledge of drafting practices for mechanical and schematic layout. Job requirements include; revising drawing markups, creating drawings for conceptual, developmental, and production level drawing packages. Also will include population of parts list and wire list, and drafting redraws, with 3D parametric part modeling, for electronic format from researched data. Capable of routinely interfacing with military, civilian and contractor personnel. This person would be able to quickly complete tasking independently and as a team member, with detailed or general instruction. Candidate must be detailed oriented and have the ability to generate comprehensive models and drafts from sketches, drawings, or verbal instruction with basic understanding of ASME Y14 drafting standards and GD&T.

Job duties include:

  • Creates and modifies detailed models and drawings primarily in Solid Edge and occasional SolidWorks.

  • Works closely with the Customer, Engineers, Technicians and other CAD Operators to capture design, revise existing documentation and attend meetings.

  • Able to keep Configuration Management of the tasking, files and correspondences as required to complete the task in a quick and orderly fashion.

  • Performs a variety of moderate and complex tasks and have the ability to use a variety of tools to include, but not limited to, Calipers, Gauges, Tape Measure, Ruler and other mechanical devices to aid in design development and verification/validation of first article pieces.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience; OR Associate's Degree in related discipline and 3 years of related experience

  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance; Interim Secret needed to start

  • Must be a U.S. citizen

  • Must have experience utilizing 3D parametric software with preferred disciplines in Solid Edge, SolidWorks and/or CREO

  • Three or more years of experience in mechanical/electrical drafting required

  • Hands-on mechanical/electro-mechanical knowledge and aptitude with understanding of currently accepted manufacturing processes and ISO procedures required

  • Experience with Solid Edge

  • Must be detail oriented and able to communicate ideas in a production floor environment

  • Ability to quickly complete tasking independently and as a team member, with detailed or general instructions

  • Advanced verbal and written skills

  • Must have extensive knowledge of military specifications and drafting practices
