SAIC is looking for an ASE Mechanical Engineer Sr in Bedford, IN .

SAIC will provide engineering, platform integration, and test expertise in support of NSWC Crane to develop and fielding of world-class systems.

JOB DESCRIPTION :

  • Develops static and dynamic design and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment and packages.

  • Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs.

  • Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication.

  • Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation. (It should be understood that this is not intended to be a detailed nor comprehensive description of any individual employee's job content.

  • Managers set the specific duties and responsibilities for each employee).

  • KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field.

JOB DUTIES:

  • As the Senior Mechanical Engineer the select candidate will independently perform/oversee/assist platform integration, test data analysis, lab management, and systems engineering tasks.

  • Provides highly unique expertise to advise senior leadership in the area of automotive engineering standards and best practices in support of systems engineering to conduct analysis of complex technical challenges/issues and strategic plans in accordance with all DoD instructions and MIL-STD.

  • The Senior Mechanical Engineer will provide leadership in execution of the project processes and procedures, primary working within the fabrication facility, dealing with both electrical and mechanical prototype assemblies.

  • Will be responsible for review and approval of project documentation, conducting process compliance audits of products and procedures, in-coming inspection of vendor and customer provided product, witnessing of product acceptance testing, development and implementation of Project Quality Plans, and other administrative technical matters.

  • They will prepare technical reports, interface and coordinate with project staff including project management, systems engineer, Assembly technicians and testers.

  • Candidates must also be able to perform various electronic, electrical, & mechanical assembly duties and fabricate from engineering drawings.

  • Must be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision. Interacts daily with supervisor, peer groups, and customers.

  • Interaction normally involves exchanges or presentation of factual information.

  • Candidate must be a team player.

  • This position could require travel with little or no advance notice.

  • Coordinates, manages and develops quality and engineering activities required to support, evaluate, audit, control and document all quality assurance functions throughout the production cycle.

  • Manages the activities of a department with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods and possibly employees.

  • Manages production integration and testing staff.

  • Works on complex tasks and ensures project, schedules, and performance requirements are met.

  • Interacts with outside customers and functional peer groups on a daily basis.

  • Interaction normally requires gaining the cooperation of others.

  • Provides in-service training to customer site personnel.

Qualifications

REQUIREDEXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE :

  • Bachelor'sdegree in a related engineering field and 7+ year’s related experience of whichat least 4 must be specialized in the Automotive Industry or related DoDtasking.

  • Supervisoryexperience required.

  • Strongquality control experience.

  • Strongelectronic, electrical, and mechanical skills.

  • Abilityto read & understand engineering drawings.

  • Proficientwritten & verbal communication skills.

  • Teamplayer.

  • Candidatemust be a US Citizen.

  • Mustbe able to obtain a Full DOD SecretSecurity Clearance .

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experiencewith the following standards highly desired: SAE (Society of AutomotiveEngineers), AWS (American Welding Society), and ISO quality documents.

  • Furtherfamiliarity with appropriate MIL STDs (DOD Military standards) associated withautomotive engineering principals, testing, and quality would be beneficial.
