Nike Senior Director, Data Governance in Beaverton, Oregon


  • Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a technical field, or equivalent level of experience in a data analysis/administration, data quality, data governance, or related field

  • Experience operationalizing a sustainable governance practice in a large sophisticated organization that drives productivity and impact, with evidence of measurement and tracking capabilities

  • Expert-level experience with data governance requirements and methods, with demonstrated ability to work with business and analytics leaders to identify and align on workable business solutions to data quality requirements and challenges

  • Experience leading or working with Data Governance and/or data solutions professionals and/or teams

  • Involvement with data and information/content strategies involving collaborative solutions, predictive analytics and BI reporting, machine learning, knowledge systems, big data and the use of diverse sources of data/content

  • Expertise in working hand-in-hand with executive partners to successfully support business performance and goals while building/achieving appropriate levels of data quality

  • Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated, well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning

  • Strong track record of leading change in a complex, matrix organization

  • Expert interpersonal, written and verbal skills with a proven track record to educate, inform, persuade, and achieve understanding and buy-in on data quality/data governance needs across different functions, levels and customers

  • Experience working in a global business environment preferred

  • Good understanding of key topics in data governance, security and marketing science, data science, and applied analytics

  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection

  • Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues

  • Experience in consumer retail or FMCG related industry preferred

  • Experience in digital marketing and e-commerce ecosystem

  • Knowledge of change management and training to increase the data literacy for data partners

  • Excellent communication and partnering skills!


  • Set strategy development, deployment, and management of the availability, usability, integrity, and security of the data employed to support the Nike business, ensuring we are meeting business needs while balancing quality, risk and cost

  • Develop and lead teams of data governance professionals responsible for driving, deploying and managing data governance solutions

  • Own relationships with diverse business partners to understand current and anticipate future business needs, understand requirements and define relevant strategic questions

  • Collaborate with senior management in developing recommendations around policies, standards and framework for data governance, and implement and maintain a data governance structure aligned to enterprise data governance

  • Engage with the industry to learn about standard methodologies, gain insightful competitive and regulatory intelligence to help in building excellence in our governance and quality initiatives

We are looking for a Senior Director of Data Governance for Consumer Creation Operations at Nike! This role will be a critical enterprise enabler to define our overall data guidelines and standards, driving process improvements and changes to our operating model. We need a leader who will create structure to help unlock excellence across a wide breadth of partner groups through clear standards and process, while managing risk when vital.


The Senior Director will lead the Data Lifecycle, from prioritization to execution to syndication, and build processes and education to lead productivity, efficacy and value throughout the lifecycle. You will establish a strong data culture and expected behaviors within the Consumer Creation Operations team and across the partner groups, driving consistency and alignment to standards.


Partnering with Technology, you will lead the Data Governance vision for the Consumer Creation function, roadmap and operations at Nike’s World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. You will report directly to the VP of Consumer Creation Operations and sit on the leadership team. You will serve as a critical partner to the Product Merchandising Ops teams (Footwear and Apparel), Design Ops team, Consumer Ops (Mens/Womens/Kids) teams, Digital Product Creation team and Operations Excellence team.
