CNC PROGRAMMER/MACHINIST

Resonant Sciences is a world-class research and development firm located in Dayton, Ohio focused on developing and transitioning innovative technologies and solutions to developmental and operational platforms. Our areas of expertise include FSS radome and antenna design and fabrication, custom electronic solutions, and inhouse RF measurements of materials, antennas, radomes, and subsystems. POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a hands-on CNC Programmer/Machinist with education and programming experience in MasterCAM or an equivalent, and machine operation experience with HAAS and Hurco equipment. In this role, you will be responsible for both programming and machine setup/operation.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Review solid models, drawings, and specifications to understand requirements
  • Program 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis jobs using Mastercam or an equivalent
  • Prove out NC programs and modify tool paths, speeds, and feeds
  • Plan and perform necessary tasks required to complete each job, such as time estimation and material/tooling procurement
  • Machine/tooling setup to include designing and fabrication of fixturing
  • Perform in process inspections to verify parts are within tolerance as suboperations are completed
  • Perform routine machine maintenance
  • Help with generation of work instructions when required
  • Assist with planning and quotation for new machining jobs

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of vocational training strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years' previous experience as a Machinist; experience working with plastics or machining composite materials a plus
  • Willingness to learn new machines and processes
  • Experience using and programming 5-Axis CNC machines, manual machine tools and processes including CNC lathes/mills strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of Mastercam or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of writing and evaluating G-code
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals
  • Ability to use and interpret inspection equipment including precision tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
  • Ability to interpret dimensions and tolerances
  • Ability to design/build fixtures
  • Organized with the ability to multi-task and be adaptable to change
  • Good engineering and math skills
  • Good interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Analytical thinking/problem solving
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a Secret Clearance. Active clearance is preferred.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
