Provides high-level expertise, technical support and issue resolution for construction of transportation facilities as it relates to environmental activities and requirements. Work requires contact and coordination with governmental agencies, private entities, contractors, and internal personnel. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor, but are handled at the occurrence. Essential Duties: Keeps abreast of current environmental developments to include laws, regulations, policies, and procedures Maintains, updates and compiles detailed data in spreadsheets, files, logs, summaries, and records Prepares, writes and makes environmental-related presentations Represents the Department at various meetings Conducts, audits, researches, and identifies problems on construction projects and makes proposals for solutions Coordinates field review inspections conducted by Environmental Regulatory Agency representatives to ensure all negative findings are handled properly and receive proper response. Drives to perform field reviews and investigations on construction projects to ensure environmental compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures Provides support and guidance on construction projects to ensure environmental compliance with applicable local, state and federal environmental laws, rules regulations, policies and procedures. Review of PSandE submissions to ensure compliance with applicable environmental federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Trains and makes training related recommendations to staff on existing and new operations and policies. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
