SUMMARY: The Locksmith is expected to perform a variety of duties related to the installation, repair, remodeling and maintenance of manual and automated locks, locking systems and security devices; computerized access control systems; door openers, closers, and hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Completes corrective and preventive work orders as assigned.

  • Disassembles locks such as padlocks, safe locks and door locks, and repairs or replaces worn tumblers, springs and other parts.

  • Changes pin lock cylinders and safe combinations.

  • Cuts keys by code or duplication.

  • Maintains key and combination records.

  • Fits, repairs and installs doors and related hardware.

  • Installs or repairs hydraulic door closers and electronic door operators.

  • Performs electronic access control diagnostics and repairs.

  • Installs repairs and maintains electronic access control systems, components and hardware.

  • Monitors work done by outside contractors for adherence to scope of work, and state and federal code compliance.

  • Provide excellent customer service. 12. Responds to emergency situations during and after hours.

  • Other similar responsibilities.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience with installation and maintenance of locks, repairs etc.

  • Effective communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Ability to operate motor vehicles and power tools safely and effectively .

  • Ability to understand specifications, blueprints, manuals and schematic drawings for installation, maintenance and repairs.

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • Valid Driver's License.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Completion of a vocational or technical program a plus
