Role Overview:

The primary function of a Technician II is to perform basic laboratory techniques, preparation for physical, aggregate, mortar and/or concrete tests, generate and record data. Testing of concrete masonry units including both ASTM and proprietary tests. Provide support to advanced-level technicians, scientist, and managers. Maintain detailed test records in laboratory notebooks and relevant computer databases for establishing and defending intellectual property. Provide accurate verbal and written results and communicates effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate verbal and written results and communicates them effectively.

  • Keep work area and equipment clean, organized, and maintained, and collaborates with the team for projects.

  • Write reports for both internal and external customers. Generate supporting laboratory documentation.

  • Wear prescribed Personal Protective equipment and ensures that prescribed safeguards are properly used. Follow company established Safety, Health and Environmental (EHS) policies and procedures. Follow all appropriate EHS policies.

  • Maintain good attendance records and report to assigned job statin a timely manner.

Formula for Success

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Good computer skills and familiarity with Lotus Notes and Microsoft 365 a plus.

  • Intermediate computer skills.

Position Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Zero to five years’ experience

  • Willing to learn concrete science and participate in hands-on lab experimentation.

  • ACI Certification preferred – required after employment.

  • Prior concrete testing experience preferred; prior laboratory experience preferred.

  • Technical aptitude

  • Business environment (market/external conditions/challenges the job faces on a regular basis):

  • Ninety percent walking, physical testing, lifting (up to fifty pounds)

  • Ten percent data collection, data communication
