ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Adaptability Competency: Understands Tremco's core chemistries and formulations of existing products within assigned area of work. Understands causal impact of ingredients and processing compared to performance within area of assigned work. Plans simple experiments and demonstrates ability to relate observations and test variables to test results. Initiative Competency: Creates project plans that map out scope of work and committed timelines. Reviews work and results with supervisor and proposes ideas and solutions. Executes tasks and experimentation and project plan. Resourceful Competency: Understands and performs key testing protocol to validate product performance. Leverages others knowledge & resources. Interact with adjacent departments to develop understanding and consensus. Communication Competency: Maintains laboratory notebook to standard. Write monthly updates and technical reports to supervisor discussing project progression and next steps. Presents work and subject matter internally to R&D. Collaboration Competency: Performs tasks and duties as agreed to on, raw material evaluation and product audits. Actively participates in innovation processes Actively participates in departmental initiatives such as weekly meeting, and quarterly training, housekeeping and small k's. Accountability Competency: Performs and reports all work consistent with scientific methodology and standards. Performs assignments as agreed upon in project plans and standard work. Report results and adjust priorities to accommodate commitments. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in either chemistry, biology, physics or chemical engineering. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Incumbent must work safety within an industrial chemical laboratory. This includes the safe handling of all chemicals commonly found in industrial labs (acids, bases, oxidizers, reducers, compressed gasses and hazardous materials), the safe operation of all mechanical processing equipment, and the safe operation of physical testing equipment.
