uJOB SUMMMARY/uThis is highly skilled and complex work in planning and preparing of electrical distribution projects, including technical and design work. Work involves understanding and assisting in complex utility functions including Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems (SCADA), and mapping systems.Work is performed under the direction of the Lead Power System Planner.uKEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/uulliAssists in preparation of electric distribution underground, overhead, substation and street lighting plans and specifications for the construction and maintenance of facilities./liliAssists in preparation, update verification and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical distribution maps, and schematics./liliAssists in maintaining records of poles, meters, transformers, transmission and distribution lines, substations, street and security lighting, and other system records relevant to the department distribution system./liliWorks in implementation and maintenance of electric GIS system in coordination with outside consultants and Information Technology personnel./liliCollects, converts, verifies accuracy, catalogs and inventories GIS data from internal and external sources for electrical distribution components./liliTransfers data from Global Positioning System (GPS) and other electronic and printed sources./liliQueries GIS databases to prepare reports, create map layouts and views and performs GIS spatial analysis as requested by staff./liliPerform GIS data quality control, including reviewing data for completeness and accuracy./liliMaintains GIS data and links to other city databases such as work order, asset management, AMI, billing, outage management, engineering, inventory and procurement./liliProvides (or supplements) GIS training activities and technical support to GIS users./liliConsults with users, management, vendors, and other GIS staff to determine needs and system requirements./liliAssists in the management of the SCADA framework to ensure proper calculations are applied to data received from all SCADA meters./liliAssists in the management ofdistribution systemcommunicationsoftware and equipment such as SCADA, Troposand other monitoring devices./liliPerforms dispatcher duties in the absence of the dispatcher as required./li/uluEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/uulliAn Associate's Degree in Science or Applied Science with concentration in GIS (Geographic Information System).ulliA minimum of four (4) years previous experience and training in electric utility applications, electronics, software operating systems, or computer technology may be substituted in lieu of degree./li/ul/liliBachelor's degree in Computer Technology, GIS (Geographic Information System), or closely related degree program is preferred./liliKnowledge and experience with programmable devices, networking, communication devices, computerized operating systems and database management systems./li/uluABILITIES/uulliDemonstrated ability and previous experience in the use of computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD), GIS software to include: ERSI, ARCGIS, ARCFM; Trimble GPS; SCADA; and related software./liliDemonstrated ability and previous experience in the use of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook./liliAbility to understand and
