Insight Global Desktop Support Technician in Battle Creek, Michigan

Job Description

Our client is prepping for a big return to office initiative in their Battle Creek Headquarters. As a result, they need help from an IT perspective getting all spaces prepped and helping all users get situated.

- Printers:

o Assist users with any connectivity or printing problems and installing drivers and check to see if user badge is registered at printer.

o Become a point of contact for Toner supplies and returning empty toner cartridges to storeroom when necessary. Plant

o Guide Lexmark service techs to printer locations in the production area and offices when needed for repairs or replenish supplies. Plant

- On Site Primary Desktop support:

o Ensure tickets opened by users are closed only after the user is satisfied that a resolution is found.

o Enter tickets for users who make contact rather than requiring them to enter one.

o Assist users with desk-side support including:

* Software installation.

* Desktop setup for new employees

* Setup new hardware or swap out replacement hardware at the desk or work location.

* Hardware issues with computers, monitors, port reps.

* Handling sending equipment back as needed, helping users request new or replacement equipment.

* Meeting room technology support. (The USB hub that connects to the HDMI screen, Room camera, and audio system.

* Teams site setup and configuration.

o Monitor site for tickets created by site employees and ensure they are being worked on.

- Act as the primary first tier contact for all support issues

o Become familiar with facility systems and learn how to properly route issues that are reported.

* Telephones -- Analog and Digital: Electrical contractors and support teams

* OT systems -- Learn the terminology and how to identify an OT problem as opposed to an IT one.

* Facilities issues - Video displays, Security systems, Meeting room Technology

* Learn to identify issues reported in these systems and how they function.

* Understand what is supported by outside contractors and vendors and what can be supported internally.

- Infrastructure support:

o UPS units

* Check on units when automated alarms are reported.

* Assist with battery swaps when needed.

* POC to coordinate escorting contractors and onsite support if a unit must be swapped out.

o Network Equipment:

* Visual inspection of equipment when an automated alert is detected.

* Assist monitoring teams when they request local inspection of equipment.

* Consult with local teams if you are instructed to make any changes to the network.

o Server Support:

* Work with local technology support team before working any assigned task on servers.

* Work escorting vendors in swapping Raid drives on servers when necessary.

* Work with escorting vendors in swapping redundant power supplies for servers when necessary.

- Project involvement

o Management needs to know if we are being asked to help with project related work out of scope of BAU which requires approval first.

o When large projects are active in the plant, there will be an expectation that all personnel will be asked to support the projects in some way.

* Act as a guide to contractors or corporate team members who are unfamiliar with the facility.

* Assist with moving equipment when IT/OT teams are involved. (Stacking new PCs for a refresh, Unboxing AP nodes etc.)

* Be aware of projects going on and how they will impact users. Be ready to assist users with these issues.
