Overview

The Electrician is responsible for installations, alterations, additions and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment within the commercial and industrial electrical industry.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for assigned field installations, alterations, additions, and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment.

  • Work within an established time frame and ensure that this work is done in conformance with quality work standards, project man-hours, and in the established company guidelines and within regulatory compliance.

This position is Full-Time, Non-Exempt, and reports to the Foreman or Superintendent.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.

  • 4 or more years of experience.

  • Must be able to report to assigned job site location on time as directed.

  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA.

  • Clearly understand and comply with company/job safety (OSHA).

  • Must have knowledge of:

  • Properly implement grounding practices

  • Transformer Protection/Connections

  • Insulating Oils & Overcurrent Protection

  • Parallel circuits

  • Fuse Operate Circuit Breakers

  • Motors

  • Inductance and Capacitance Power

  • Switching Procedures

  • Terminations

  • Blueprints/Shop Drawings, including symbol use.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Maintain and properly store tools, equipment, and/or materials.

  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Electrical Journeymen license.

Travel Requirements

  • As required by job assignment.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

  • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and/or poles.

  • Ability to work 10 hours per day, night shift, 40 hours per week and overtime as required with little or on short notice.

  • Job may require working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, and/or wind.

  • Must be able to utilize provided construction site sanitary facilities. (Porta-Johns).

  • Must wear personnel equipment at all times. (i.e. hard hats, safety glasses, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when needed.

  • Light to heavy work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or equipment.

  • Ability to work in restrictive/tight areas.
