Overview

TITLE: Program Assistant

DEPARTMENT : Batavia Corps

REPORTS TO: Corps Officer

SUPERVISES: Some volunteers

STATUS: Non-Exempt

SCHEDULE: Part time - 15 hours per week (seasonally increases to 29 hours per week)

Sunday: 10AM-12PM Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 5:30PM-7:30PM Remaining 7 hours of office planning time flexible with approval from Corps Officer

FUNCTION: The program assistant assists in planning and coordinating youth and adult programs, young adults, VBS, outreach ministry, Sunday School and they will assist with seasonal events such as Kettles. They will be expected to share a vision for growing the corps and the Kingdom of God.

Responsibilities

DUTIES: (To include but not limited to)

  • To be fully involved in Sunday activities including attending services, leading Sunday School classes and junior church in rotation with Corps Officers

  • Assist the Corps Officer with the development, planning and implementation of various youth and adult programs, including but not limited to:

  • Social and evangelistic ministry programs;

  • Seasonal efforts such as Kettles, Angel Tree, Back to School, etc.

  • Corps summer youth ministries, including the recruitment for camps and Bible school programs;

  • Assist the Corps Officer in providing leadership at events including assisting the Corps Officers in the promotion, registration and transportation of events/activities. Transportation could include driving to pick up donations, program participants, etc.

  • Gather and regularly submit program statistics and maintain program records

    Assist as needed for general, daily Corps support needs and performs special projects as assigned by the Corps Officers

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One year of college or technical school and/or one to three years of related experience

  • Valid driver’s license and approval to drive TSA vehicles

  • Effective communication skills

  • Ability to relate to individuals of all ages and demographics

  • Basic computer skills

  • Emotional and spiritual maturity

  • As this position is a ministry position, individual must support and uphold The Salvation Army Mission Statement and Salvation Army Doctrines
