NOTICE OF VACANCY

Coordinator of Community Schools-Part-Time

Anticipated Start Date: July 1, 2024

Community Schools offer a holistic whole-child approach toward improving academic performance driven by strong, collaborative partnerships among principals, parents, teachers and community based organizations. In Community Schools, parents are real and active partners in their children's education, the school climate is joyful and positive, and expanded learning opportunities are standard. This person will facilitate the implementation and management of the development of Community School (CS) activities, events, programs and services that lead to increased student achievement, stronger families and healthier neighborhoods. He/she will assure the functioning of all community school core components are effectively linked to school curriculum and fulfill the basic principles of community schools.

Coordinator of Community Schools expectations:

  • Collaboratively prepares, implements and monitors a Community Schools action plan;

  • Performs administrative tasks for the day-to-day management and coordination of activities;

  • Develops relationships and partnerships with neighborhood residents, community based organizations, local businesses and communities of faith to support the goals of the leadership team and the key priority areas;

  • Provides oversight and supervision of the District Social Workers in collaboration with Principals;

  • Establishes linkages with local businesses, colleges, county, city and community-based resources;

  • Integrates programs that aim to increase educational opportunities and social connections for all stakeholders;

  • Support the evaluation of the community school initiative by coordinating the collection of data (e.g. community needs assessment), timely submission of reports and responses to other requests for information;

  • Recruits and coordinates the activities of agencies, colleges and businesses willing to offer programs and services to meet the needs of students, families, and community members.

  • Assures the alignment of partner services with the Community School strategies through partner service agreements;

  • Coordinates and provides oversight of weekly community outreach/recruitment (door-to-door, tabling, presentations, telephone calls, social media, etc.), and creates promotional materials;

  • Serves as point person for agencies and programs interested in partnering with the school and help to broker new partnerships that are aligned with school goals and needs;

  • Utilizes SMS data management system to gather, maintain and report on student academic, attendance behavioral success;

  • Maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate the community schools schedule;

  • Manages volunteer systems for the District;

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent or their Designee

Required Qualifications:

  • Possess proper NY State Certification, SBL, SAS or SDA;

Compensation:

  • $45,000 - 20 hours/week for 12 months

  • Specific benefits to be determined consistent with the BAA Agreement based on the administrator's FTE.
