Title: Senior Electrical Engineer (UK)

Description of the role

Xylem is recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer, in this senior level role you will be overseeing a number of engineers from a technical standpoint, (you will have a number of dotted line reports). The expertise you bring will enable you to lead on all associated electrical safety and regulatory compliance duties, and will ensure that Xylem is implementing best practice, and a learning culture within the workforce. We are looking for someone with a bright and enthusiastic outlook, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to overcome problems.

As a Chief Electrical Engineer, you will:

  • Manage your own portfolio of projects that will move Xylem forward in electrical safety.

  • Mentor and nurture a team of Electrical Engineers – identifying gaps and building competency.

  • Contribute significantly to the overall business strategy and growth by supporting the field-based operations, various nationally located Xylem facilities within their differing business functionalities.

  • Review and support internal electrical engineering design works when and where required to support product safety or installation conformity.

  • Ensure the development of electrical contract documentation including management and preparation of contracts are correctly managed within the project teams.

  • Overseeing electrical aspects for project engineering works, ensuring correct technical specifications are prepared and applied to projects that Xylem delivers.

  • Review external contractor's and consultant's specifications and documentation for the procurement, or pre-contract review of contracts to ensure Xylem requirements are achieved.

  • Develop an internal audit schedule and ensure periodic reviews of competency are undertaken and documented.

  • ensure all projects are designed and executed demonstrating and proving full compliance.

The Senior Electrical Engineer will have the following:

  • Have managed diverse portfolio of work, and industries.

  • Have supervised or managed teams.

  • Be looking for career growth, not just another job.

  • Have a thorough understanding of commercial awareness in order to understand implications of engineering activities and decisions.

  • Have excellent organisational skills and ability to deliver the highest quality of work within the necessary timescales.

  • Qualified to at least degree level or equivalent industry experience.

  • Member of a professional body - Chartered Engineer status in an appropriate discipline would be expected for a sufficiently experienced engineer in this role. (or working towards this goal within 12 months)

  • At least 7 years or more experience in the management of projects / programmes of increasing complexity. (or, Industrial electrical management of a large portfolio of infrastructure).

  • Proven ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems and to make balanced decisions in complex situations and with incomplete information.

  • Experience of engaging with clients on both technical and managerial aspects at all levels.

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with senior management.
