Patten CAT Electrical Engineering Supervisor in Bartonville, Illinois

Working Hours/Days

Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm, overtime and weekends as needed.

Overview

The primary function of the Electrical Engineering Supervisor is to oversee the daily operation of the electrical project engineering group. The hired candidate will be required to manage several projects simultaneously during various stages of completion. This position will also help the production team with troubleshooting and programing issues in our test cell and provide product support to our customers. Effective time management and strong organizational skills are essential for success. Close interaction with Sales team, vendors, engineers, and customers is required to fully understand and manage each project in its entirety.

Basic Duties

  • Assign task’s to and supervise the electrical project engineers.

  • Conduct yearly performance reviews of the engineers.

  • Review project documents for compliance with project requirements/specification.

  • Provide engineering support to field service technicians and sales personnel as necessary.

  • Provide application support to customers and engineers when needed.

  • Provide support to the production shop and test cell to ensure deadlines are met.

  • Prepare project submittals as required per specs for equipment approval and subsequent release.

  • Interface with Caterpillar factory application engineering for technical support.

  • Interface with Caterpillar factory personnel for design details.

  • Assist sales team with providing accurate quotes.

  • Design and evaluate custom components or systems for unique customer applications.

  • Ensure projects stay on schedule and leave a satisfied customer/end user

  • Additional responsibilities and functions may be needed to meet customer and organizational needs.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering (preferred) or equivalent work experience. A minimum of 2 years of experience in the engine and power generation industry or in closely a related technology field.

  • Military and Veterans encouraged to apply.

  • 3 years of direct management experience.

  • Experience with CAT ET, CAT monitoring software, SIS web, and TMI is required.

  • Knowledge of diesel and natural gas generator sets is required.

  • Experience with lithium ion energy storage systems preferred.

  • Understanding of applicable codes, NFPA, NEMA, NEC

  • Experience with AutoCAD or Inventor

  • Basic knowledge of paralleling switchgear, generator set remote fuel system and remote cooling system will be preferred.

  • Must have a clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle will be performed on final candidate).

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

This position works primarily in an office environment. May, on a continuous basis, sit at a desk for a long period of time; answer telephone calls and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means, and in a vehicle traveling to and from locations. May on a continuous basis walk, bend and lift up to 20lbs. May be required to wear appropriate safety equipment (IE- Safety glasses or side shields) when needed. The noise level in the office environment is usually moderate to low. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
